Contagious Courageous were kindly invited to the first ever AMP Live festival and over the past two days, we were privileged to see some amazing acts.
The Friday kicked off with first act Sisteray - a London four piece band. Having reviewed previous work from the lads, it was nice to be able to finally see them perform live. Their stage presence brought in a really good crowd for the first act and my great expectations of them were not a disappointment. Also being able to speak to the guys after during an interview was a great way of really getting to know them and their take on the band and the bands ambitions.
I of course saw The Blinders play their set, them being the 3rd act of the night. I can't count on both hands how many times I've seen this band live and every single time, no matter where they play, they always get the most amazing reception. It's nice to be able to see how well this band are doing and how great it was to hear that the other bands were also looking forward to them.
The first act I saw on Saturday, were The Strawberries - who are a four piece band from Leeds. I was really blown away by there set. As I walked in a instantly noticed the front man Sam - who to me looked a lot like Rory Gallagher. Having only heard a few tracks from them beforehand, I didn't really know what to expect however I found myself absolutely loving every song. It's definitely a band to keep an eye out for.
The next band I saw were Judas. This is another band that I've heard mention many of times but this was actually the very first time seeing and hearing them and was a great success for an introduction to the band. I was really impressed by their set and the crowd were loving it also - especially the fans that came all the way from Newcastle! This band were better than I ever expected and even though I was stood right at the back with limited vision, it was still very enjoyable and i'm so glad i was able to see them live.
I also got to see Broken Witt Rebels. There music was a lot different to the other acts of the night and it was nice to see something different - especially as i'd not seen them before. They had a great connection with the audience, which is always great to see.
Lastly I got to see Sheafs who are a local band form Sheffield. I have seen this band many times before so I knew what to expect, however I just couldn't wait to hear them.Their music is so infectious and so is their stage presence, it radiates the room and makes the crowd feel amazing. You could tell from the how the crowd how much they were looking forward to hearing them.
It was an amazing success and I'm so glad that I was able to enjoy so much good music.
Contagious Courageous would like to thank Aaron Proctor and AMP Live for putting on such an amazing festival and I hope to be doing the same thing next year.
Keep an eye out for interviews with some of the bands.
