A REVIEW OF 'Crescent Moon' FROM THE RECEIVERS - 30/08/2017

THE RECEIVERS - from left to right Louis, Harry, Nick & Alex

THE RECEIVERS are a York based four-piece who just last Friday released their debut single.

This quartet, compromised of Nick Aldous (lead vocalist & guitarist), Alex Higginson (lead guitarist & vocalist), Harry Stables (bassist & backing vocalist) and Louis Bristowe (drummer) describe their sound as ‘indie rock music with hints of pop and psychedelia’.

‘Crescent Moon’ comes ahead of the debut EP from The Receivers and it is quite a promising first release from them which makes me hopeful for the next one.

It is exactly what they describe themselves as, indie rock instrumentals with a hint of psychedelia in part crossed with pop style lyrics (in the chorus at least).

There is something about Nick’s vocals which sound considerably raw and this is something which I feel they have captured well as it is how his voice sounds when the band play live – something you can find out for yourself by getting down to one of their upcoming tour dates.

Overall the track released through Alya Records is one which presents a great start to the musical journey of The Receivers. They have opened many doors for themselves for future releases.

You can catch the boys of The Receivers on their upcoming tour where they shall be visiting:
7th September - West Street Live, Sheffield
11th September - The Maze, Nottingham
12th September - Gullivers, Manchester
13th September - Jumpin' Jacks, Newcastle
14th September - Santiagos, Leeds
15th September - Fibbers, York (EP launch show)
